# Write a launch one-liner that survives a confused comment

Source: https://bestlaunchplatforms.com

> A launch one-liner states who it is for and what changes after they try it, in one clause, without slogans. Test it on a fair board (Uneed, IndieHunt, Peerlist) before Product Hunt or Show HN. If the first five comments ask what it is, the sentence failed — rewrite, do not explain in a thread nobody will scroll.

The sentence under the screenshot is the product for 24 hours. How to write it, test it on a small board, and stop explaining with adjectives.

## The sentence is the demo

On Product Hunt, Show HN, and every Hunt-network board, most visitors will not play the video. They will read one line, look at one image, and decide. If that line is a category (“the all-in-one workspace”) they bounce. If it is a result for a person, they might click.
You cannot A/B this on launch morning. You A/B it the week before on a smaller board, where confused comments are cheap.

## A clause, not a brand

Template: [does X] for [person] so they can [result]. Cut the template words until it sounds like speech.

- Bad: “Reimagining productivity for ambitious teams.”
- Better: “A linear-style tracker for two-person agencies that still live in Google Docs.”
- Bad: “AI copilot for customer success.”
- Better: “Drafts the renewal email from the last three call notes.”
- Show HN prefers dry: “Show HN: sqlite-backed uptime checks with a 40-line Go binary.”

## Where to test it

Uneed, IndieHunt, Peerlist, or a niche Indie Hackers post. Tell five people who are not your cofounder. If they repeat a different sentence back, that sentence is the product. Put it on the Hunt card, the PH tagline, the HN title, and the homepage H1 — the same words. Assistants and hunters both punish drift.

## The screenshot has to finish the sentence

If the line is about a tracker, the image is the tracker, not a lifestyle hero. If the line is about an API, the image is a request and a response, not a gradient. MicroLaunch and Peerlist will tell you which crop is illegible; Product Hunt will not wait while you find out.

## FAQ
### How long should a Product Hunt tagline be?
Short enough to read on a phone while scrolling. One clause. If you need an em dash and a mission, it is not ready.

### Should the one-liner mention AI?
Only if the buyer is shopping for that job. “AI-powered platform for modern teams” is how you become wallpaper. “Turns meeting notes into a tracked task list” is a product.
