BetaList
The reference directory for products that are not public yet.
BetaList has been the pre-launch listing since 2010. Unlike daily boards, it is not trying to crown a winner of the day. It is a catalog of betas, and the people who browse it are looking for something to try before everyone else.
Third-party reports in recent years put the value of a BetaList feature around $0.50–$1.40 per early-adopter signup, which is why it still belongs at the start of a launch sequence. The catch is time: the free queue is often 4–6 weeks, with paid expedite options.
Submit as soon as you have a landing page, a one-liner, and a waitlist. Do not wait until launch week. BetaList is how you collect the first hundred emails so later boards are not cold.
Waitlist / beta listing
Should you launch on BetaList?
Yes if the product is not public yet. No if strangers can already try it.
BetaList is built for coming-soon pages and betas, not for a launch-day leaderboard. Submit when the waitlist exists. The delay is usually the queue, not the form.
Skip this as “the launch.” When the product is tryable, move to a fair board, then a main event. Burning Product Hunt or Show HN on a screenshot of a form is how you waste the only first impression those rooms will give you.
When: Week 0–1 of a launch month, as soon as the waitlist URL is live.
Launch here if
- Waitlists and coming-soon pages
- Consumer and prosumer tools that photograph well
- Founders who can wait a few weeks for a free slot
Skip if
- Fully launched products looking for a one-day spike
- Enterprise software with no self-serve trial
- Anything that cannot collect an email yet
This page answers BetaList only. For an ordered stack by stage, buyer, and goal, use the shortlist recommender or the four-week sequence.

When to show up
A queue, not a launch day
Free listings often wait 4–6 weeks. Submit as soon as the waitlist URL exists. Paid expedite only if the date actually matters.

A faster review. Buy it for the date, not for a vanity badge.
Ship kit
Do this before you press submit on BetaList.
- 01Waitlist URL live before you submit
- 02Submit early — the queue is the delay
- 03Do not burn Product Hunt on a coming-soon page
Stack with
Same launch month, different job — not a second hunter day.
Timing
BetaList does not compete for launch-day hours. Do it on a quiet afternoon so the hunter morning stays free.

How to submit
01
Finish the waitlist page first
BetaList sends people to your site. If the page cannot capture an email in one step, you are wasting the listing.
02
Write a specific one-liner
Category plus outcome. “AI notes app” is invisible. “Meeting notes that file themselves into Notion” gets clicks.
03
Submit and wait, or pay to skip
Free review takes weeks. Expedite if you are on a hard launch calendar. Do not submit the week you need the traffic.
04
Reply to testers
The users who arrive are unusually willing to try rough software. Treat every confused question as copy QA.
Tips
- Start BetaList at the beginning of a four-week sequence, not the end.
- Use a unique UTM so you can actually measure signup cost.
- Update the listing when you go from waitlist to open beta.
- Pair with a smaller launch board once you have 50–100 emails.
