# G2 review and launch guide

> G2 is a B2B software review platform. Free to claim a profile; value comes from genuine customer reviews over months. High buyer intent and strong AI citation, poor fit as a first launch channel.

G2 is a review marketplace. IT buyers, operators, and increasingly AI systems use it to sanity-check software. A Product Hunt badge says “makers liked this on a Tuesday.” A G2 profile with real reviews says “teams used this and did not regret it.”
Getting those reviews is the work. G2 has anti-incentivization rules. You can ask customers; you cannot pay for stars. The profile also needs accurate categories, screenshots, and pricing signals or you will lose the comparison grid to competitors who filled theirs in.
Start collecting reviews as soon as you have ten happy customers. Do not wait for a “launch.” This is post-revenue infrastructure.

## FAQ
### Can I launch on G2?
You can publish a profile, but G2 is not a launch board. It starts working after customers write reviews.

### Does G2 affect AI answers?
Yes. Review grids are a common source for “best X software” answers in Google, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.

### How many reviews do I need?
Enough to look real in your category. For many early SaaS products, 5–10 genuine reviews is the first milestone; 20+ starts to win grids.
