Product Hunt
Still the largest single-day launch audience in tech.
Product Hunt remains the biggest dedicated launch audience in tech. A top-three finish can send 5,000 to 15,000 visitors in a day, a durable backlink from a high-authority domain, and a badge that still means something on a landing page. That is the upside founders remember.
The downside is the format. One calendar day, a crowded board, an algorithm that rewards early social proof, and a lot of luck about who else launched that morning. Founders who arrive without an Upcoming page and a real supporter list often finish outside the homepage fold and leave with a few hundred visits.
Use Product Hunt as the main event in a sequence, not as the first time anyone hears about you. Warm the maker account, collect Upcoming subscribers, launch Tuesday through Thursday at 12:01am Pacific, and stay in the comments for the first 18 hours.
Scheduled daily board
Should you launch on Product Hunt?
Yes — as a main event, after a warm-up. A poor first public appearance here is expensive.
Product Hunt is an actual launch surface: a date, a ranking or homepage slot, and comments. Cost: Free. Optional ads and featured placements; organic launch is free.
Reach is the reason to come. Fairness is not. Warm the account, collect Upcoming or equivalent supporters, and do a smaller board first so the screenshot already makes sense.
When: Week 3, mid-week, after a waitlist and a warm-up board. Not the first time the product is public.
Launch here if
- Products with a clear screenshot and a one-line hook
- Teams that can rally 30–50 genuine supporters
- Founders who want press scouts and a recognizable badge
Skip if
- First public mention of an untested product
- Niche B2B tools with no visual demo
- Anyone who cannot be online for launch day
This page answers Product Hunt only. For an ordered stack by stage, buyer, and goal, use the shortlist recommender or the four-week sequence.

How to submit
01
Warm the maker account
Create the account weeks ahead. Upvote and comment on other launches. Fresh zero-activity accounts read as one-shot promoters and their votes get discounted.
02
Build an Upcoming page
Product Hunt’s native waitlist is worth more than launch-day tricks. Seed it from communities you already belong to.
03
Ship assets the week before
Thumbnail, gallery, first comment, maker comment, and a landing page with one CTA. Do not send people to a vague homepage.
04
Launch and stay present
Go live 12:01am Pacific, Tuesday–Thursday. Reply to every comment for 18 hours. Never ask for upvotes in public.
Tips
- Treat rank as distribution, not product-market fit. High rank with a weak landing page still converts poorly.
- Avoid Fridays, weekends, and weeks with Apple events or YC Demo Day.
- Email your own list the morning of — one line, one link, one ask for honest feedback.
- Save Product Hunt for after a warm-up launch on a smaller board so the pitch is already stress-tested.
